PHILADELPHIA — Allen Iverson scored 37 points and the Philadelphia 76ers used a strong defensive effort to beat the San Antonio Spurs 101-84 Friday night.

In Philadelphia's first game since Iverson criticized coach Larry Brown, the defending Eastern Conference champions played one of their best games of the year against the NBA's second-best team.

The Sixers, just 16-20 this season, forced the Spurs into a season-high 20 turnovers and held San Antonio to 29-of-75 (39 percent) shooting.

Iverson was 14-of-31 from the field and 9-of-10 from the foul line. Derrick Coleman had 17 points and Dikembe Mutombo grabbed 12 rebounds for the Sixers, who have won two of their last three.

        Pacers 97, Bulls 90

INDIANAPOLIS — Jalen Rose rediscovered his shooting touch, scoring 38 points as Indiana kept Chicago winless on the road this season.

Rose matched his total production for the last four games, hitting 13 of 21 shots from the field and all nine of his free throws.

Rose had scored only 18 points in his last three games, shooting 8-of-32 from the field. He hit six of seven in the first half and never cooled off as the Bulls dropped their 18th consecutive road game and their sixth straight overall.

        Celtics 104, Pistons 90

BOSTON — Paul Pierce scored 16 points to offset a poor shooting night by Antoine Walker as Boston beat Detroit.

Walker finished with a season-low five points and saw his consecutive streak of scoring in double figures end at 126 games. Walker, who was questionable with a knee injury, was 1-of-14 from the field but had 11 rebounds and seven assists.

        Raptors 94, Hawks 91, OT

TORONTO — Alvin Williams scored a career-high 28 points, including a 3-pointer with 1.7 seconds left in overtime, to lead the Raptors.

Williams, whose previous best was 24 against Indiana on Dec. 19, scored seven points in OT. Williams also had seven assists and seven rebounds.

Shareef Abdur-Rahim led Atlanta with 26 points, but passed up a potential go-ahead shot with a few seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Vince Carter and Hakeem Olajuwon added 16 points each for the Raptors, who also got 14 points and 13 rebounds from Antonio Davis.

        SuperSonics 102, Cavaliers 100

SEATTLE — Gary Payton hit a 20-footer over Andre Miller with 0.9 seconds left as the SuperSonics won their 13th straight over the Cavaliers.

Cleveland lost its fifth in a row and the Sonics won for the ninth time in 11 games.

The Cavaliers tied the score at 100 on a 3-pointer by Lamond Murray with 7.6 seconds left. Brent Barry then inbounded the ball to Rashard Lewis, who passed the ball to Payton, who hit the winning shot from just inside the 3-point line.

Vin Baker had a season-high 32 points, Lewis added 27 points, including six of eight 3-pointers, and Payton finished with 24 points and tied his season high with 15 assists for Seattle. Wesley Person led the Cavs with 24 points.

        Timberwolves 120, Lakers 102

MINNEAPOLIS — Wally Szczerbiak scored 34 points and Kevin Garnett had 32 as the Timberwolves topped the Lakers in a matchup of two of the West's top four teams.

Szczerbiak and Garnett each grabbed nine rebounds, and Garnett had eight assists to go with 23 first-half points.

Minnesota was 30-for-32 from the foul line, and its 120-point effort was the highest against the Lakers this year.

Shaquille O'Neal had 29 points and seven rebounds, and Kobe Bryant scored 23 points for Los Angeles.

        Bucks 105, Wizards 86

MILWAUKEE — Tim Thomas dominated Michael Jordan in the first quarter, and the Bucks no trouble with the Wizards the rest of the way.

Thomas, matched against Jordan early, outscored him 16-2 in the first 12 minutes as the Bucks opened a big early lead and cruised past Washington 105-86 Friday night, snapping the Wizards' four-game winning streak.

Thomas tied his season-high with 25 points, Ray Allen scored 27, Sam Cassell added 18 and Anthony Mason had 12 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.

Jordan finished with 22 points, scoring 14 in the second quarter.

        Trail Blazers 92, Magic 84

ORLANDO, Fla. — Damon Stoudamire had 10 of his 25 points in the first quarter as the Portland Trail Blazers ended its Eastern Conference road trip with 3-1 record.

The Blazers also got 19 points from Rasheed Wallace and 18 from Ruben Patterson. Scottie Pippen added 10 rebounds and 10 assists, but scored only two points on 0-for-5 shooting.

Stoudamire's strong start was a continuation from the Blazers' 92-85 win at Miami a night earlier. Against the Heat, he had 14 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter as Portland overcame a 17-point deficit.

Orlando had its four-game winning streak snapped. Tracy McGrady led the Magic with 17 points.

        Hornets 92, Clippers 91, OT

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Baron Davis banked in a driving layup with 1.5 seconds to play in overtime to give the Hornets their first three-game winning streak of the season.

Davis inbounded the ball after a timeout to Elden Campbell, who handed it right back. Davis juked around two defenders and into the lane for the shot.

The Clippers, who led by 17 at one point, took a timeout to set up a final shot. It went to Darius Miles, whose 20-foot jumper was off at the buzzer.

Davis had 19 points and 15 assists to lead the Hornets.
