BLOOMINGTON, Ind. Tom Coverdale scored 22 points and Jared Jeffries added 21 as Indiana made 14 3-pointers in an 83-65 victory over No.25 Michigan State on Tuesday night.
The Hoosiers (10-5, 3-0 Big Ten) made 10 of 16 3-pointers in the first half to build a 24-point lead. Coverdale made his first six 3-point attempts, scoring 21 in the first half, and Dane Fife was 3-for-4. Fife finished with 14.
Coverdale made his first eight shots overall before missing a 3 midway through the second half.
Indiana shot 65 percent overall in the first half and led 48-26.
The Hoosiers struggled at first to regain their shot in the second half, making only four baskets in the first 10 minutes. The Spartans (9-6, 0-2) capitalized with a 16-8 run to make it a 14-point game.
But Jeffries hit a 3 and Kyle Hornsby followed with a steal on the next possession. Hornsby hit a 3-pointer to push Indiana's lead back to 20.
By the time Jeff Newton converted a three-point play to make it 74-51, the sold-out crowd at Assembly Hall was chanting Overrated! Overrated! at the Spartans.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. Brandon Dean and Michael Jones keyed a 14-0 run, and Jannero Pargo stopped a Mississippi State rally by scoring five straight points.
Dean scored twice and played energizing defense, and Jones contributed two baskets and an important assist during the spurt that put the Razorbacks (10-4, 2-0 SEC) in front 57-40 with 10:03 to play. Derrick Zimmerman helped the Bulldogs (14-2, 1-1) cut the margin to nine points before Pargo made a reverse layup and a 3 for 65-52 lead.
Arkansas led by 10 points early in the second half, but T.J. Cleveland threw the ball to Zimmerman who took the gift to the other end for a layup that cut it to 43-40.
A tip by Jones bounced through before Dean stole the inbounds pass and zipped past a defender for a reverse layup.
