Slominski retires as Fairfield golf pro

By Jack Murray
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Jim Slominski, 63, who has worked to upgrade area junior golf programs, has retired as head pro at Fairfield Golf Club after 33 years.

Slominski is a two-time winner of the Horton Smith Award for leadership in the promotion of golf and education. He also has won a pair of President's Appreciation Awards from the Southern Ohio PGA and been elected to two halls of fame — the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the PGA in 1992 and the Southern Ohio PGA in 1999.

Slominski also oversaw the construction of Fairfield's new nine-hole executive course, adjacent to the main course and scheduled to open in May.

He joins other local Hall of Fame club pros Bob Hauer (Crest Hills) and Dick Plummer (Camargo Club) in retirement.
