Fast Delivery arrives on time in My Charmer

Beats Miss Pickums by a half-length

The Cincinnati Enquirer and wire reports

Fast Delivery, overcoming a speed-favoring track, came flying late to capture her second consecutive $50,000 My Charmer Stakes for fillies and mares Saturday at Turfway Park.

Fast Delivery, under meet-leading rider James Lopez, closed quickly down the center of the track to win by a half-length over Miss Pickums in 1:45.23 for 1 1/16 miles over a sloppy track. Momentous was third after a troubled trip. Minister's Baby, the 2-to-1 favorite, was fifth. Doubly Fun and Darling Deputy were scratched.

“She's all heart,” winning trainer Betty Moran said. “She loves this track, and she loves the mud. She really wants to win. She's just had some bad luck in her last couple of races. Things set up perfectly today.”

Fast Delivery improved her career record to 7-3-8 in 23 starts with $265,035 earnings. She has won five of nine starts at Turfway Park and in addition to her two My Charmer wins, she also won last year's Likely Exchange Stakes.
