Reading to be aglow with festivities

        READING — “Light up the Valley” kicks off the holiday season here Sunday.

        Festivities will take place throughout the community, beginning with a Girl Scouts-sponsored tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. at the IGA store on Reading Road.

        A crib dedication ceremony will follow at Fifth Third Bank on Reading Road. It is sponsored by the Reading Church Council.

        Reading business owners and residents are asked to participate by lighting luminaria during Light up the Valley. Luminaria kits, offered by Reading Red Hawks Cub Scout Pack No. 6, can be ordered at 761-2542 or 351-5509.

        They also will be sold at IGA from 6-9 p.m. Friday, and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

        Refreshments, food, hayrides and open houses will be featured throughout Reading during the event.
