Ohio State hits ground running
Brown scores 15 in win over Winthrop
The Associated Press
COLUMBUS, Ohio Brian Brown scored seven of his 15 points during a 15-2 run to end the first half as Ohio State opened its season Sunday with a 78-54 victory over Winthrop.
Boban Savovic added 14 points, Sean Connolly and Brent Darby each had 11 and Will Dudley in his first career start replacing Johnson scored 10 for the Buckeyes, who made 53 percent of their shots from the field.
We rushed our shots a little bit, but we played well overall, said Brown, a four-year starter at guard. Our guards have some experience and we set the tempo.
The Buckeyes ran their record to 44-6 in Nationwide Arena's three years.
I'm really, really happy with us getting the opportunity to win in the fashion we did, Ohio State coach Jim O'Brien said.
