TMC gains 1st playoff win 34-30

        Matt Carpenter caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Jesse Lowrey with 14 seconds to play to give Thomas More a 34-30 victory over MacMurray in a first-round NCAA Division III playoff game Saturday at Crestview Hills, Ky. It was the Saints' first-ever postseason game.

        Thomas More (11-0), ranked No.12 in Division III, has won 17 straight games. The Saints will play Wittenberg, which beat Hardin Simmons 38-35 in overtime, Saturday at a site and time to be announced.

        Lowrey completed 16 of 27 passes for for 236 yards and three touchdowns. Curtis Williams ran 17 time for 157 yards and a touchdown for Thomas More, and Justin Frisk (Highlands) scored two touchdowns.

        Dayton 46, Jacksonville 14
       

        DAYTON — Kelly Spiker scored two touchdowns and threw for a third for the Flyers in the Pioneer Football League championship game.

        Jermaine Bailey (Moeller) rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries and Dayton (10-1) ran for 358 yards while holding Jacksonville (6-4) to 83.

        Georgetown 42, Tri-State 21
       

        GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Eddie Eviston threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more scores for Georgetown in the first round of the NAIA playoffs.

        Eviston threw for 204 yards and ran for 63 as the defending NAIA champion Tigers (11-0) won their 25th straight game.

        Michael Newbill rushed for 148 yards on 25 carries for Tri-State (8-3).
