Committee chairs named

By Gregory Korte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

The transition to Cincinnati's new “stronger mayor” form of government continued Wednesday, with Mayor Charlie Luken exercising his new power to appoint City Council's committee chairs.

The bipartisan group of mostly younger council members will help Mr. Luken implement his agenda on City Council. They are:

        • Finance: John Cranley.

        • Law and Public Safety: Pat DeWine.

        • Neighborhood and Public Works: Paul Booth.

        • Community Development and Intergovernment: Minette Cooper.

        • Health, Social and Children Services, Small Business Development, Employment and Training: Alicia Reece.

Mr. Luken has yet to announce his choices for the minor committees that govern rules, committee assignments and a yet-to-be-created arts committee.
