Newcomer elected in Warren township
By Earnest Winston
The Cincinnati Enquirer
DEERFIELD TWP. Randy Kuvin and incumbent trustee Barbara Wilkens Reed led five other candidates Tuesday for two Deerfield Township seats, according to unofficial returns.
Meanwhile, incumbents held their seats in trustee races for Hamilton, Turtle Creek and Union townships.
Mr. Kuvin, 38, was leading the field in his first attempt at elective office.
I'm humbled to have this support of the voters, Mr. Kuvin said.
I'm very mindful of that and will be in fulfilling my responsibilities for office.
He said he plans to focus on bringing a professional atmosphere to the township.
Ms. Reed, 44, appointed to office in January, was narrowly holding onto the second of the two seats on the three-member board of trustees in this fast-growing Warren County township.
In Hamilton Township, incumbents Becky Ehling and Clyde E. Baston were re-elected to 4-year trustee seats.
Mrs. Ehling, 34, was leading with 33 percent of the vote. She would win her second term on the board of trustees.
I'm extremely happy that the people have the confidence in me to re-elect me, she said.
I'll do my best to continue what I'm striving for.
She plans to focus on bringing more businesses to the township, fight against losing land to annexation and support infrastructure improvements.
Mr. Baston, 63, a trustee for 20 years, is president of the Warren County Trustees Association.
His priorities are directed toward growth through planning, continued park development and police and fire protection. He had 28 percent in unofficial returns.
In Union Township, Lionel H. Lawhorn and Johnny T. Louallen appeared to have won their quest to fill two trustee seats.
