Miami, Marshall ready for showdown
It will be high noon Saturday at Yager Stadium. When co-leader Marshall travels to Oxford to meet the Miami RedHawks, barring a collapse in subsequent games, the winner will represent the East in the Mid-American Conference championship game.
Last Saturday, redshirt freshman Ben Roethlisberger passed for 305 yards and two touchdowns in Miami's 24-21 win at Bowling Green. It was the seventh victory in a row for the RedHawks (7-2, 4-0 MAC East).
Byron Leftwich ran for one score and passed for 333 yards and three more touchdowns as the Thundering Herd (7-1, 4-0 MAC East) also won their the seventh straight 42-21 against Kent State. Something has to give at noon Saturday in Yager Stadium.
It's special, Roethlisberger said. This is Marshall. They pretty much own the league. Now they're coming to our place, and we want 'em bad.
West Division heavyweights Toledo and Western Michigan meet at 8 p.m. today on ESPN.
The MAC championship game is Nov.30 at the West Division champion's stadium.
