LEBANON Six candidates are on the ballot to fill two seats on the Lebanon Board of Education.
Candidates are Orville Robinson, Michael Eshleman, Walter Davis, Mary Lou Lutmer, David Armold and Jackson Hedges.
Ms. Lutmer, who has three children in Lebanon schools, said growth and quality are priorities in her campaign.
While Mrs. Lutmer believes current members are addressing those issues, the board needs to stay focused on the needs of the community, especially now that a new high school will be built.
Seeking a second term is Mr. Robinson, who is president of the board. He said staff development, updating curriculum and construction are priorities.
In the next several months, the board will be involved in plans for the new high school.
Mr. Davis, a former board member who is vice chairman of the Education Committee for the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, believes his experience as an engineer and an educator can help during construction.
Mr. Hedges, a former Lebanon mayor and councilman, believes the district needs to retain and recruit quality teachers.
Mr. Armold, a salesman for Western-Southern Life Insurance Co., believes teachers need to keep up with trends in education by attending more seminars. Mr. Eshleman could not be reached for comments.
