Congrats


Montgomery man an honors grad

        Doug Santschi, of Montgomery, graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in economics from Davidson College in North Carolina.

        He was elected to Omicron Delta Epsilon economics honor society and studied voice on a Friends of the Arts Scholarship.

        Mr. Santschi is a graduate of Sycamore High School.

Xavier scholarships

               The following have accepted scholarships to attend Xavier University:

        Academic Scholarships: Christine Liguzinski, of Covedale, a graduate of St. Ursula Academy; and Jason Murray, of Delhi Township, an Elder High School graduate who intends to major in premed.

        Transfer Scholarship: Katherine Schneider, of Madeira, who previously at tended DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. She plans to major in biology.

        Xavier scholarship recipients must rank in the top 25 percent of their high-school class, and achieve a 25 or higher on the ACT, or 1,130 or higher on the SAT.

Program graduates

               The following have graduated from the medical assisting program of the Institute of Medical & Dental Technology in Springdale:

        Dolores Ramsey of Hamilton; Angela Hatfield-Woodall of Sardinia; Retha Strickland of Clifton; and Tasha Housley of Colerain Township.

UC dean's list

               Industrial engineering major Jeff Kersting was named to the spring quarter dean's list with a 4.0 grade point average at the University of Cincinnati. His plans include obtaining a master's degree in engineering as well as a law degree.

        The Elder High School graduate is the son of Karen and Gary Kersting of Delhi Township.

Connor selected

               Army Lt. Col. Arthur Connor was selected to attend the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, Carlisle, Pa. The 12-month curriculum prepares officers of all services, as well as civilian officials of the federal government, to serve in top-level command and staff positions with U.S. armed forces throughout the world.

        Lt. Col. Connor, a senior task force observer/controller assigned to Hohenfels, Germany, is the son of Reda Connor of Springdale. He is a graduate of Princeton High School and the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, N.Y.
