Congrats


Students named to dean's lists

        The following have been named to the dean's list at their college or university:

        Michael Oakley, a sophomore education major, made the second semester list at Miami University. He is the son of Linda and Dave Oakley of West Chester Township.

        Freshman Robert Cassidy made the spring quarter list at the University of Cincinnati. The Harrison High School graduate is the son of Mary and Charles Cassidy of Harrison.

        Jimmy Carnes, a senior majoring in audio production, made the spring quarter list at Ohio University. The Norwood High School graduate is the son of Jean and James Carnes of Norwood.

        Davy “Clay” Hagerman, a sophomore occupational therapy major, made the spring term dean's list at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College. He is the son of Jeanette and Oliver Summers Hagerman of Springfield Township.

Master's degree

               Scott Bucholtz earned a masters of science degree in theoretical mathematics from the New Mexico Institute of Technology in Socorro. He is now a researcher with the Honeywell Corporation in Los Alamos, N.M.

        The graduate of Colerain High School is the son of Jude and Elliott Bucholtz of Colerain Township.

Army graduates

               The following privates graduated from Army basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.:

        Don Davis, the son of Fred Davis of West Chester Township; Donald Honsaker, a graduate of Moeller High School and son of Carol and Bruce Honsaker of Dillonvale; Steven Cassidy Jr., the son of Donna and Steve Cassidy of Groesbeck; and Steven Allen,the son of Jerry Allen of Kenwood.

Teacher honored

               The Valley Area Council Parents and Teachers Association has named Marsha Thompson Woody of Adena Elementary (Lakota schools) as Outstanding Educator for 2000-2001.

        She is a second-grade teacher and an active PTA member and volunteer.

Eagle Scout Award

               Paul Guder, Troop 674, achieved the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America: the Eagle Scout Award. For his community service project, he built benches for the greenhouse at Green Acres Foundation.

        The graduate of Sycamore High School is attending the University of Illinois. He is the son of Laura and Klaus Guder of Loveland.
