The first state championships of the season, Divisions II and III boys golf, will be decided at Ohio State's Scarlet and Gray Course Friday and Saturday in Columbus.
Wes Homan, a first-team all-state performer in 2000, will lead Summit Country Day in the Division III tournament. Monroe will play for the Division II championship.
New Richmond senior Justin Fender, a Division II individual qualifier, is one of the favorites for medalist honors.
The Division I boys district is Thursday at Weatherwax, with the top three teams advancing to the state meet next week in Columbus.
Eight Cincinnati teams Kings, McNicholas, Turpin, St.Xavier, Elder, Fairfield, Hamilton and defending state champion Lakota West will attempt to advance.
GIRLS GOLF: Undefeated La kota West is favored to win the district championship Thursday at Weatherwax. The top four teams advance to the state tournament next week in Columbus. Mount Notre Dame, Middletown, Ursuline, McAuley, Lakota East and Lebanon are also entered.
GIRLS TENNIS: The Divisions I and II district tournaments will be Friday and Saturday, with the top four singles players and doubles teams advancing to the state meet. Thomas Cloud Park in Dayton will host the Division I district. First-round play is scheduled for 9a.m. Friday; the semifinals, championship and third-place matches are Saturday.
The schedule is the same for the Division II district, which will be played at Princeton.
CROSS COUNTRY: League meets highlight the final week of the regular season.
The Colerain girls will go after a record 10th consecutive league championship Saturday at the Voice of America Park in West Chester, the site of the Greater Miami Conference championship.
Rapid Run Park will be the site of the Greater Catholic League and Girls Greater Cincinnati League meets Saturday. And Mason will host the Fort Ancient Valley Conference meets Saturday.
GIRLS SOCCER: Although most league championships have been decided, No.1-ranked St.Ursula needs victories over Roger Bacon (tonight) and Seton (Wednesday) to win the GGCL Scarlet Division title. Moeller needs only a victory over McNicholas on Tuesday to clinch the GCL South Division in boys soccer. Mariemont would wrap up the Cincinnati Hills League with a victory over Taylor Tuesday.
