Bonds hits No. 58
SAN FRANCISCO Barry Bonds hit his 58th home run but the Giants lost to the Colorado Rockies 4-1 Monday.
With 24 games to play, Bonds needs 13 homers to break Mark McGwire's record of 70 set in 1998.
Bonds rounded the bases to a standing ovation, but neither he nor his teammates had any more success against Rockies rookie Jason Jennings. Bonds went 1-for-4, and reliever Mike Myers struck him out in the eighth to kill a scoring threat.
Bonds ducked out of the clubhouse without speaking to reporters.
