Cocaine found in storage

The Associated Press

DAYTON, Ohio — A Harrison Township resident who noticed suspicious activity at a storage locker led sheriff's deputies to $1.2 million in cocaine.

Montgomery County Sheriff Dave Vore declined to identify the resident or say exactly what he saw, except that it involved a lot of visits to a locker at Wagner Ford Self Storage.

The man reported the activity Tuesday night to a sheriff's detective who then called the sheriff's organized crime unit, Sheriff Vore said. Detectives obtained a search warrant after drug dogs picked up the scent of drugs from outside the locker, he said.

Authorities found 11 kilograms of powdered cocaine, some crack cocaine, two pounds of marijuana and a gun, Sheriff Vore said.

He said the cocaine seizure was one of the largest ever made by the sheriff's office.

Detectives still did not know where the cocaine came from or where it was going, he said. They were trying to find out who rented the locker.
