Congrats
Design major wins scholarship
Artie Kuhn, a junior in the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning at the University of Cincinnati, was awarded the Ludwig and Anna Woeseczek Scholarship for his senior year. The digital design major is a Cincinnatus Scholar and a Young Life Advisor at Oak Hills High School.
The graduate of Northwest High School is a resident of Pleasant Run.
Singers rated best
The St. Ursula Academy Vocal Ensemble swept the Music Festival Competition in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. with the highest score of all instrumental and vocal ensembles. It also won the first place trophy in the high school show choir category with a superior rating, and the overall high school choral award for the highest number of points of all high school ensembles in the com petition.
The outstanding accompanist trophy went to music director Kathy Backherms.
At competition at Lebanon High School, the St. Ursula Orchestra won first place with a superior rating and the ensemble took first in the High School Show category with a superior. It also won the Overall High School Choral Award, and the Ensemble received the highest number of points of all ensembles again at this competition.
The Ensemble performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in June.
2 on dean's lists
Matthew Patterson, a junior at Miami University majoring in special education, was named to the spring semester dean's list.
Ryan Patterson, a sophomore majoring in psychology, was named to the spring semester dean's list at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
Each is a graduate of Archbishop Moeller High School. They are sons of Bruce and Kathy Patterson of West Chester Township.
Dean's list honors
Cristiane Lanier was named to the dean's list with a 4.0 grade point average at the College of Mount St. Joseph.
She is a psychology major and the daughter of Bob and Mary Lanier of Bridgetown.
Summer in Spain
Courtney Browne, a junior at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., studied this summer abroad at the University of Madrid.
The Summit Country Day School graduate is the daughter of Lea and James Browne of Finneytown.
