Three-time French Open champion Gustavo Kuerten was in Cincinnati this week for the Tennis Masters Series Cincinnati event. The man they call Guga sat down with Enquirer reporter Lyndsay Sutton at the ATP Tennis Center this week.
What would you be doing if you weren't playing tennis professionally?
It's hard to say because I can't imagine my life without tennis. But, I would probably be doing something with sports, studying physical education.
I love the Kings Island resort park. Although I'm scared of most of the roller coasters, I have fun eating popcorn, cotton candies, buying gifts at the shops. I don't like the food here.

What do you enjoy most about the Tour stop in Cincinnati? What about least?
Why do you think you have such a big fan following?
Everywhere I go there's always lots of Brazilians. They like sports in Brazil and so they like me. Also, I think they like my style, relax guy, someone like them.
What does your brother do with the trophies you give him? (His brother is disabled and Kuerten gives him all his tropies)
Nothing. He gets happy when I arrive home and hand him the trophies. He can't do anything with them because after I give him the trophies, I put them in my trophy room.
What's the craziest thing your countrymen have done in celebrating you and your success?
Always, when I'm playing the final of a tournament, they gather together, cook barbecue, drink beer and watch me play. Then, they go out in the street, wave flags and celebrate.
