Medicare approves Foot Solutions

        MONTGOMERY - Foot Solutions, a shop specializing in shoes for finicky feet, has been authorized to accept Medicare reimbursement.

        “We'd like to announce that we are now accepting assignment on Medicare Part B for diabetics,” said owner Ken Shuller. “With a proper referral from a doctor, Medicare will pay 80 percent for one pair of shoes per year costing up to $134, and also 80 percent of $192 for three multidensity inserts per year.”

        Mr. Shuller added that Foot Solutions has become an authorized New Balance Procare dealer.

        The shop is at 10014 Montgomery Road. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Gold Star Chili sponsors "takeovers'

        ANDERSON TOWNSHIP — Gold Star Chili is looking for a few unsung heroes. In keeping with its slogan, “The taste that is taking over Cincinnati,” the company will recognize, with a “Team Takeover,” companies, organizations and sports teams that have overcome an obstacle. Winners selected by the company can stage a “takeover” of a local Gold Star Chili restaurant, where up to 40 group members can enjoy a free meal.

        The first Team Takeover winners were students at the Clovernook Center for the Blind, who completed Discovery summer camps and learned more about functioning independently.

        Entries must be submitted to Gold Star via the company's Web site, www.goldstarchili.com.

Golden Corral opens in Symmes

        SYMMES TOWNSHIP — Frisch's opened its 12th Golden Corral restaurant July 30. The new franchise is at 12090 Mason-Montgomery Road.

        The grill buffet restaurant seats 354 people and serves a menu that includes chicken, steak and made-from-scratch pizza and baked items. A carryout menu features many of its best-selling dishes.

        The new restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday-Sunday with a breakfast menu from 7:30-11 a.m.

        Golden Corral began its first restaurant venture in 1973 and operates and franchises 452 locations in 38 states. In 2000, Golden Corral ranked first in sales, market share and growth in the grill buffet restaurant segment. Frisch's plans to open a total of 41 Golden Corral restaurants in Ohio and Kentucky over a seven-year period.

        About 140 people will work at the new location.

Recruiting firm helps vets find jobs

        BLUE ASH — A orporate recruiting firm has changed its name to reflect a new emphasis: helping armed forces personnel find civilian work that matches their education, background and aspirations. RecruitMilitary LLC also works with some individuals who have both military and corporate experience.

        RecruitMilitary president Drew Myers said the company has placed candidates from all the branches of service, from the junior enlisted ranks through senior officer ranks.

Blue Pig Cafe opens in post office

        CAMP DENNISON — Most people don't think of ordering lunch when they check their post office box or buy stamps, but that might change now that the Blue Pig Cafe is open. The Blue Pig serves meals from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday-Friday in the Camp Dennison Post Office, 7832 Ohio 126.

        The menu includes soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts. The Blue Pig also serves a Saturday brunch from 9 a.m. to noon.
