Bonds Watch: No homers

SAN FRANCISCO — Barry Bonds, leading the majors with 46 homers, went 0-for-2, snapping his eight-game hitting streak, in the Giants' 4-2 win over the Phillies Friday night.

Bonds, who also walked and was hit by a pitch, is still ahead of Mark McGwire's pace to the record 70 homers in 1999.

Andres Galarraga kept the Giants undefeated since he joined them, hitting a two-out, two-run homer in the ninth inning for San Francisco's ninth straight victory.

“I just came here to help these guys stay in the race with my bat and my glove,” Galarraga said. “I didn't expect anything like this.”

The Giants (61-49) caught the Dodgers in the NL West standings and stayed a half-game behind Arizona, which moved back into first place with Los Angeles' loss to the Cubs.
