Man drowns fishing Lake Cumberland

        RUSSELL SPRINGS — A Bullitt County man drowned during a fishing excursion on Lake Cumberland with his family, according to Russell County Coroner Larry Skaggs.

        Charles Smith, 51, of Shepherdsville, was last seen fishing off the back of a house boat shortly after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

        His family became aware around four hours later that he was missing. The Russell County Rescue Squad responded and recovered Mr. Smith's body from 60 feet of water.
