Miami third in preseason MAC poll
The Miami RedHawks, with one first-place vote, were picked third in the Mid-American Conference East Division preseason football poll by the news media.
Marshall received 41 first-place votes to top the East, while Ohio was second with seven first-place votes. Toledo was selected to finish first in the West and also to win the MAC title.
EAST: Marshall (41 firsts) 341 points; Ohio (7) 276; Miami (1) 258; Akron (2) 224; Bowling Green 151; Kent State 107; Buffalo 68.
WEST: Toledo (36) 287; Western Michigan (14) 254; Northern Illinois 198; Ball State (1) 155; Central Michigan 101; Eastern Michigan 73.
