Show time
Quilt show: Quilts not at all like the ones grandma used to make are on view through Sept. 3 at Quilt National '01 in Athens, Ohio.
The 12th biennial exhibition includes an image of an American flag with hand-stitched postage stamp-size patches from recycled soda cans from Australian artist Janie Matthews and a quilted whole-cloth piece exploring images between sleep and awareness from a Belgian couple.
The show is at the Dairy Barn Arts Center, 8000 Dairy Lane, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday (until 8 p.m. Thursdays). Admission: $5 adults, $3.50 seniors and full-time students, free under 12. Information: www.dairybarn.com or (740) 592-4981.
Open garden: See Old World-style Italian gardens accented with sculpture and fountains at an open house at Sycamore Street Studio 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday and July 31-Aug. 1, 1604-8 Sycamore St., Mount Auburn. Information: 381-0272.
Garden tour: The Neighborhood Gardens program of the Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati will celebrate 20 years of community gardening with its annual tour, starting 5 p.m. Tuesday,at the center in Avondale. A welcome reception will be followed by an air-conditioned bus visit to three gardens, including the first community garden built in Over-the-Rhine in 1980. Free, but reservations required: 221-0981.
Garden class: The staff of the White Oak Garden Center will give tips on planting and maintaining a garden throughout the year 7 p.m. Mondayat the West Fork Branch Library in Monfort Heights. Information: 385-3313 or 369-4472.
Antiques: The Indian Hill Antiques Fair, featuring more than 100 dealers, will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 29 at Indian Hill High School, 6845 Drake Road. Exhibitors will be offering American, English and Country French furniture, folk art, brass, ceramics, art pottery, Rookwood, pewter, quilts, decoys and sports memorabilia. Information: 683-8888.

Fall move: Gattle's, longtime Hyde Park purveyor of fine linens and bedroom/bathroom accessories and clothing, is getting ready to move to the old firehouse at 7809 Cooper Road in Montgomery in early September. A premoving sale is going on through next Saturday, closing date in Hyde Park.
