        Jazz Fest: The WIZ Coors Light Riverfront Jazz Festival pulls out the stops and unleashes a musical conga line full of red-hot R&B acts, including Aretha Franklin, Brian McKnight and the Four Tops. Music starts 8 p.m. today, Cinergy Field, $30-$60. 562-4949.

        Christmas in July: MainStrasse Village hauls out the tinsel, twinkling lights and Santa dolls for a weekend full of Christmas shopping, family activities, a car show and hairy elephants, namely Cincinnati Museum Center's “Mammoths on Tour.” Today-Sunday, Sixth and Main Streets, Covington. 357-6246.

        Ventriloquists: Some of the country's top dummies mouth off at the “Headliner Show,” part of Vent Haven's International Ventriloquists Convention. Staying In

        TV picks: Those Rugrats celebrate their 10th birthday on Nickelodeon with a rerun at 7:30 p.m., the premiere of Rugrats: All Growed Up at 8 p.m., and The Making of the Rugrats at 9 p.m.

        • TV Critic John Kiesewetter also says Dayton's Channel 7 airs the U.S. Air Show (12:30-5 p.m.), while Dayton's Channel 16 airs National Geographic: Air Force One (8 p.m.), The American Experience profile of Charles Lindberg (9 p.m.) and Wiley Post of Oklahoma (10 p.m.).

Planning Ahead

        24 hours out: Everything butterflies flutters up for Butterfly Sundae with slide shows and butterfly garden tips for adults, crafts and scavenger hunts for kids. 1-4 p.m. Sunday,Farbach-Werner Nature Preserve, Colerain Avenue and Poole Road, Colerain Township. 521-7275.

        48 hours out: Punk rockers Hot Water Music, with some help from Gunmoll and Army of Ponch, does the change of venue shuffle, moving from Bogart's to the Southgate House. 8 p.m. Monday, 24 E. Third St., Newport. $8-$10. 562-4949.

        A week away: In other venue changes, the Newport Arts and Music Festival moves to its new location on Riverboat Row. Noon-midnight next Saturday between the Taylor Southgate and L & N bridges. (859) 292-3666.
