One among 10 in crash dies

Driver could get up to 140 years

By Ray Schaefer
Enquirer Contributor

BURLINGTON — One of 10 people injured in a head-on wreck earlier this week died Friday.

Jeremy Alford, 21, of Ludlow, died at University Hospital. Mr. Alford was a passenger in the car driven by Jimmy D. Good, 21, of Florence, and had been in critical condition since the accident Tuesday.

Mr. Good, who police said caused the accident, could be sentenced to as much as 140 years in prison if convicted of charges brought earlier in the day Friday. It was not known if any additional or upgraded charges would be filed against Mr. Good because of the death of Mr. Alford.

Lt. Jack Banks of the Boone County Sheriff's Office said Mr. Good is charged with nine counts of second-degree assault and one count of wanton endangerment.

Each assault charge carries a 10- to 15-year prison term and up to a $10,000 fine, and the wanton endangerment count carries one to five years and a $5,000 fine.

Mr. Good apparently tried to pass a tractor-trailer on U.S. 42 and hit an oncoming station wagon.

Mr. Good was discharged Friday from the University of Kentucky Medical Center and brought to Boone County jail, where he remained Friday night on $100,000 cash bond, Lt. Banks said.

One of the four passengers in Mr. Good's car, Sara R. Miller, 21, of Erlanger, remained in critical condition Friday at University Hospital. Mr. Alford's wife, Cinnamon Alford, 18, of Ludlow, was in serious condition at University, and their daughter Savannah Good-Alford, 3 months, was in fair condition at Children's Hospital Medical Center.

The driver of the station wagon, Fanny Colin, 32, of Union, was in fair condition at University.

Two children — Jesus Colin, 5, and Fanny Colin, 4, of Union, were discharged from Children's. Ricardo Colin, 14, of Union, was in fair condition at Children's, and Jamie Gonzalez of Cincinnati was discharged from University.
