Bonds Watch: No homers
The Associated Press
SAN FRANCISCO Home run leader Barry Bonds was 0-for-2 with three walks in the Giants' 2-1 win over the Colorado Rockies Thursday night.
I'm still a little sore, but nothing like yesterday, said Bonds, who homered twice Wednesday night before leaving the game with back spasms.
Bonds remained at 42 home runs this season, matching Yankee great Mickey Mantle on the career list with 563.
Bonds drew a two-out intentional walk in the ninth inning, loading the bases, and the Giants won when Juan Acevedo followed by walking Jeff Kent.
The victory gave the Giants a two-game sweep of the Rockies and moved San Francisco to within 4 1/2 games of Arizona in the the NL West. The Diamondbacks visit Pacific Bell Park for a three-game series this weekend.
