Fuller's funds lag Luken's
Charter candidate trails by $140,000-plus

Cincinnati mayoral candidate Courtis Fuller needs to raise another $140,000 to match incumbent Charlie Luken's political war chest of $146,000.
Campaign finance reports filed Friday show the former television news anchor turned Charter Party candidate raised $6,200 since entering the mayor's race last month.

We got started late, but we have more (coming), said Jeff Cramerding, Charter Committee executive director. We need to raise as much as Luken.
Mr. Luken, a Democrat who has raised $146,570, said Friday he hasn't even paid attention to money lately.
I have been so preoccupied by the business of the city that I haven't had time to do very much, he said. I just haven't thought much about it.
Since his last campaign finance report was filed with the Hamilton County Board of Elections on May 14, records show Mr. Luken has raised $3,840.
Of that, $2,600 came from donations.
More than half, $1,500, came from the Cincinnati AFL-CIO Labor Council.
Mr. Fuller who spent Friday afternoon at a West End hamburger stand meeting and greeting residents has raised the bulk of his money from other Charter supporters.
Among those are $2,000 from former Mayor Bobbie Sterne, $1,000 from Robert Conway and $1,000 from Mrs. David Joseph.
With the Sept. 11 primary now 60 days away, Mr. Fuller faces Mr. Luken and two other independent candidates vying to become the city's first directly elected mayor in more than 70 years.
The top two vote getters will square off in the November election.
