Steven Moore, 38, is from a fashion forward family. He describes himself as a Versace'' kind of guy with a St. John mother and two very Talbot sisters.
Clothes and shopping have been important to him for as long as I can remember, he says. His letter of nomination described his full-length beaver coat and wide-brimmed hat for winter.
The Sak's fur associate, from Westwood, has been in the retail business, on and off, for 20 years. And that's good because he buys something every day, even if it's just socks or shoes.
Describe your style: Very Versace, strong colors and patterns. And I love stripes and polka dots.
Your fashion philosophy: Anything goes as long as it's a designer piece. I'm a slave to the name. I know it sounds plastic, but it's the truth.
Your signature look: I always wear a blazer or a suit. I'm never without a blazer, even if it's 100 degrees outside. I'm just not a casual dresser.
Biggest splurge: A Versace blazer from Barney's in New York for $2,800. I was so happy to get it. I was ecstatic. It's white, single-
breasted, no vent, with a black polka dot pattern.
Best bargain: Also a Versace blazer from Goodwill for $1. This one is black with a tiny dot pattern woven in.
You can be found shopping: At Saks, of course; Barney's in New York; Neiman-Marcus in Chicago, and Somerset Mall in Troy, Mich. I love it.
You wouldn't be caught dead in: Polyester of any kind.
Fashion pet peeve: Flip-flops. They should be outlawed. They are wrong, wrong, wrong under any circumstances.
Earliest fashion memory: When I was about 13, I had a pair of green and white plaid bell-bottoms. It was the '70s.
If you had big bucks you'd buy: A tailor. Or nothing but Versace. I'd never dress off-the-rack again.
You can never have enough: Shoes. I have about 115 pairs.
