For the second month in a row, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport had the highest on-time arrival and departure percentage among the nation's 29 largest facilities, federal officials said Monday.

The U.S. Department of Transportation said that 87.6 percent of both arriving and departing flights were within 15 minutes of their scheduled times in May.

That was best for both categories among the nation's busiest airports, with Cincinnati ranking first in both for April as well.

The local airport's major tenant, Delta Air Lines, also saw its performance improve in May, with 83.3 percent of all the airline's flights arriving within 15 minutes of scheduled.

Delta, which operates its second-largest hub locally, remained ranked sixth among the nation's top 10 carriers, but saw its rate rise from 81.4 percent in April and 80.7 percent in May 2000.
