1 killed, 4 hurt in crash on I-275
BATAVIA A 21-year-old Kenwood woman was killed Sunday in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 275 near Wards Corner Road.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol identified the victim as Abby L. Hettel, of Stillmeadow Drive. The crash occurred about 7 p.m. when Ms. Hettel, who was driving a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina east on I-275, lost control and slid across the grass median into westbound traffic, the highway patrol said.
The victim's vehicle was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Lumina driven by John Abbott, 54, of Centerville, who then lost control of his vehicle and was struck by a westbound 1996 Ford Club Wagon driven by Douglas M. Theis, 36, of the 4800 block of Laurel Avenue in Blue Ash.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Mr. Theis, Mr. Abbott and a rear seat passenger in his vehicle, Melissa Schaefer, 23, Reynoldsburg, were transported to Bethesda North Hospital for treatment of injuries. Sharon Abbott, 54, same address as Mr. Abbott, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
The crash remains under investigation.
