Dayton Open invites Mickelson (Tim, that is)

        Tim Mickelson, younger brother of PGA Tour star Phil Mickelson, has accepted the second sponsor exemption to play in the Buy.com Tour Dayton Open June 21-24 at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace in Centerville.

        Mickelson, who competes on the NGA Hooters Tour, will be playing his first Buy.com tournament. His best finish on the NGA Tour is a tie for 25th at the Triad Classic.

        The other sponsor exemption for the $425,000 event, 156-player field went to Matt Kuchar.

        Tickets: $10 for a good-any-one-day pass; $20 for a weekly pass.

        OHIO OPEN: Top Flite and the Ohio Lottery have joined to become major sponsors for the 54-hole Ohio Open July 16-18 at Tam O'Shanter's two 18-hole courses in Canton. The championship is open to PGA pros, non-PGA pros and amateurs who reside or attend school in Ohio. Among the past winners are Chris Smith, Bob Wynn, Tom Weiskopf, Jack Nicklaus, Denny Shute, Byron Nelson and former Camargo Club pro Dick Plummer.
