Boone Co. repeats district title

Boone County junior Heather Lawrence scattered three hits to earn the 4-1 complete-game victory Friday over Conner in the 33rd district at Ryle.
The win earned Boone County its second straight district championship.
The Rebels scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to take the lead for good. Becky Bishop doubled in Emily Tierney for the go-ahead run. Bishop scored on a Michelle VanCleve single later in the inning.
Boone County improved to 30-6 on the season, its most wins in school history. Both schools advance to the 9th Region tournament at Northern Kentucky University.
