By Dave Schutte
The Cincinnati Enquirer

Three teams who have won state baseball championships and Lakota West will play for the Division I regional championship Friday and Saturday at Wright State University.

Eleven-time state champion Elder meets two-time champion Hamilton, while two-time champ Fairfield will face surprising Lakota West.

The semifinal games could be pitching duels, with Fairfield going with Jason Bowlin (8-2) and Lakota West using Austin Rhoads (11-0).

Matt McCloy, Elder's stopper the final three weeks of the season, will face Hamilton ace Steve Polen in the 5 p.m. nightcap. The winners play for the championship at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Other local teams in the regionals are Turpin in Division II,

Mariemont in Division III and Cincinnati Country Day in Division IV.

Ross can advance in Division II if it wins its rain-delayed district final today.
