Man shot to death in College Hill

The Cincinnati Enquirer

An early morning shooting at Hilltop Terrace Apartments on North Bend Road in College Hill left a resident dead in a rear parking lot.

Cincinnati Police identified the victim as 31-year-old Xavier Williams.

“This is very unusual for this place,” said Charles Mason, 48, who lived across a courtyard from Mr. Williams.

Police Sgt. John D. Newsom, homicide unit supervisor, said District 5 officers and Cincinnati Fire Division paramedics were dispatched to the apartment at 3:34 a.m. after receiving a call that a man had been shot.

Police said Mr. Williams was apparently leaving his apartment to go to his job at a warehouse in West Chester Township in Butler County.

Cincinnati Police Capt. Vincent Demasi said Mr. Williams had been shot in the upper torso.

Investigators are still searching for a possible motive.

“No weapon was found and we can't determine a motive why anyone would shoot him,” said Capt. Demasi, who added that Mr. Williams' car keys were not taken.

Anyone with information is asked to call the homicide unit at 352-3542 or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040. Callers can remain anonymous and may receive compensation for their information.
