St. X graduate receives awards
Aaron Luebbe, a graduate of St. Xavier High School and a senior psychology major at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio, received the Endowed Faculty Scholarship Award, the Paul Evans Lamale Scholarship in the Social Sciences and the Phi Beta Kappa Prize. The awards were given on the basis of leadership, interest in campus life quality and a broad range of course work.
Mr. Luebbe is the son of Robert Luebbe, of Delhi Township.
Douglas Duckett, Butler County personnel director and labor counsel, has been nominated to participate in the annual National Security Seminar of the U.S. Army War College in Pennsylvania in June.
The program involves a week of interaction in which civilian leaders of various backgrounds meet with U.S. military leaders.
Excels as student
Corin Pennella, a senior biology major, was named to the first semester dean's list at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine. She is the daughter of Joan and Michael Pennella of Loveland.
The following have graduated from the Army's basic military training at Fort Leonard Wood in Waynesville, Mo.:
Pfc. Jamie Southwick,the son of Kelly Rackley of Seneca, S.C. and Jeff Southwick of Loveland; Reserve Pfc. Laura Elkins, daughter of Virginia Elkins of Westwood and Gregory Elkins of Mason; Pvt. Khristina Thompson, a graduate of Winton Woods High School and daughter of Henrietta Thompson of Forest Park; Pvt. Rebecca Belcher, a graduate of Fairfield Senior High School and daughter of Xenia Lorenzo of Hamilton; and Pvt. Reene Harger, a graduate of Lakota West High School and daughter of Tina and Gary Harger of West Chester Township.
Matthew Schneider, a graduate of Walnut Hills High School and senior philosophy major at the College of Wooster, received the D. Ivan Dykstra Philosophy Roundtable Book Prize. The award is given annually to a student who has contributed significantly to the philosophy round table.
Mr. Schneider is the son of Jerry and Ann Schneider of Covington.
