N.Ky. high school highlights
Beechwood no-hits Villa Madonna
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Sophomore Colin Neumann and junior David Potter combined to pitch a no-hitter as Beechwood defeated Villa Madonna 10-0.
Neumann pitched the first five innings, and Potter closed out in the sixth.
Potter also went 4-for-4 at the plate with four RBI.
St. Henry 5, Boone County 3 Senior Dustin Pierce went the distance to improve to 4-1. Pierce helped his own cause with a squeeze bunt to score Jason Lux for the winning run in the fifth inning.
Conner 5, Ryle 1 Corey Long homered in the first inning, and freshman Dustin Alvey hit his first career homer in the second to power Conner.
Lloyd 11, Calvary Christian 3 Brett Mullins struck out nine in the complete-game victory. The Juggernauts scored seven runs on seven hits in the top of the seventh.
Fast-pitch
St.Henry 12, Holy Cross 11 Senior Carrissa Steffen singled in Jennifer Kathman with two outs in the bottom of the seventh for the winning run. St.Henry scored seven runs on six hits in the sixth inning, capped by Jackie Diersin's two-run single.
Notre Dame 11, Campbell County 1 Shelby Howard and Brittany Pauly both doubled in two runs in the fourth inning.
Walton-Verona 10, Scott 6 Eighth-grader Amanda McIntire singled in two runs in the fourth for what proved to be the winning run. Amber Frilling homered for Walton-Verona in the sixth.
Slow-pitch
Calvary Christian 5-6, Beechwood 3-0 Seniors April Adams and Lisa VanBerkel each homered to lead Calvary in the first game of a doubleheader. The home runs broke a 3-3 tie in the third.
Ohio baseball
Ross 7, Wyoming 5, Division II sectional at Ross Senior Dominic Bogolo hit a solo homer in the first inning to help Ross to a 6-1 lead. Warren Sizemore earned the save with two innings of relief.
Lakota West 5, Greenville 3, Division I sectional at Lakota West Brandon Beyerlein and Scott Hicks each drove in two runs. Austin Rhoads pitched five innings to improve to 9-0 on the season.
