Badin finishes off Franklin in 9th

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Kyle Gambrell hit a bloop single over a pulled-in infield to score Graham Crain in the bottom of the ninth as Badin beat Franklin 3-2 in a sectional baseball game Tuesday at Joyce Park.

The game was the continuation of Monday's game, which was suspended due to weather.

Senior Andy Rumpler picked up his sixth victory with six strikeouts in three innings of relief.

        • Ross 7, Wyoming 5, Division II sectional at Ross — Senior Dominic Bogolo hit a solo homer in the first inning to help Ross to a 6-1 lead. Warren Sizemore earned the save with two innings of relief.

        • Lakota West 5, Greenville 3, Division I sectional at Lakota West — Brandon Beyerlein and Scott Hicks each drove in two runs. Austin Rhoads pitched five innings to improve to 9-0 on the season. The victory is Lakota West's 20th.

        • Anderson 9, Wilmington 0, Division I sectional at Midland Field — Fred Schroeder and Josh Keipper each drove in a pair of runs to lead the Redskins. Jensen Lewis struck out nine for the win.

        • Northwest 3, Mount Healthy 1, Division I sectional at Fairfield — Senior Zac Hughes doubled to drive in two runs in the bottom of the fourth. Junior right-hander Brandon Bellamy struck out 11.

        • Sycamore 5, Harrison 3, Division I sectional at Fairfield — Mike Gulker's three-run homer in the top of the fifth proved to be the difference as Sycamore knocked off fourth-seeded Harrison.

        • LaSalle 16, Hughes 0, Division I sectional at Lakota East — Reggie Watson, Chad Fowkes and Mike Ertle each had two RBI.

After dropping first and second singles, St.Xavier, ranked No.3 in the Enquirer's coaches poll, won both doubles and third singles to beat No.2 Princeton. Vivek Ramaswamy won the deciding match at third singles, beating Rob Caress in three sets.
