Porn stars sign autographs as police raid premises
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Elyse's Passion, an Over-the-Rhine store that sells sex videos and other merchandise, was open for business Saturday a day after Cincinnati police officers in ski masks raided the store.
They put me in bondage. That's what handcuffs are for, right? said store owner Elyse Metcalf.
The raid at the store at 1210 Sycamore St. occurred a few hours before several adult-film actresses and actors were scheduled to sign autographs for customers. The event had been promoted with an airplane flying over the Reds game Thursday and during two appearances Friday on local radio stations.
Police used a search warrant to inspect the store's inventory, then charged Ms. Metcalf with operating a sexually oriented business without a license.
After spending about an hour in a jail cell, Ms. Metcalf was released Friday on $1,000 bond. Her attorney, H. Louis Sirkin, said she will plead not guilty to the charge at a hearing set for Monday.
This isn't Ms. Metcalf's first clash with the law. A trial is set for May 14 on pandering obscenity charges filed against Ms. Metcalf several months ago.
Friday's bust didn't stop the autograph session. Even as police were inspecting the store, the film stars signed autographs outside.
