Dolan's double lifts Sycamore

The Cincinnati Enquirer

Matt Dolan doubled home pinch runner David Suszko with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Sycamore a 4-3 baseball victory over Amelia Saturday in the Amelia Invitational.

Sycamore tied the score in the bottom of the seventh on a one-out solo home run by Mike Gulker.

Dolan was named MVP of the tournament.

        • Elder 8, Oak Hills 5 — Matt McCloy and Keith Bolger combined to go 4-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs and seven RBI to lead the Panthers in the opening game of the Best of the West tournament.

        • Talawanda 3, Dayton Carroll 2 — Jake Wyant's two-run homer in the top of the third inning was the game winner for the Braves.

        • Maumee 12-5, Winton Woods 4-6 — Senior Ryan Collins had two hits in the opener and pitched a complete game in the second game for his first victory of the season.

Collins got a swinging strikeout with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh inning. After the ball got past the catcher, he covered home to get the game-ending force out.

Fast-pitch softball
• Ross 8, Badin 0; Ross 8, Edgewood 3 — With two victories in the Edgewood Invitational, the Rams improved to 20-1 this season, their 14th consecutive with at least 20 wins.

Pitcher Rachel Richardson had 12 strikeouts and went 4-for-4, and Kristian Gray finished both games 6-for-7 with six straight hits for Ross. Rachel Montezinos pitched a shutout in the first game, against Badin.

        • Mercy 8, Oak Hills 4 — Mercy junior pitcher Shan non O'Donnell drove in four runs with a triple and a home run and held Oak Hills scoreless after giving up three runs in the first inning.

        • Oak Hills 4, Harrison 2 — Freshman Renee Nickell hit a two-out, two-run single and junior Sarah Camper followed with a two-run triple in Oak Hills' four-run first inning. The Lady Scots have won eight of their last 10 games after an 0-10 start.
