Division II-IV boys basketball all-stars




        Division II Player of Year - Keith Jackson, Purcell Marian, 6-5, G-F. Vital statistics: Senior averaged 16.7 points and led Cavaliers to 18-8 record. Named second-team all-Ohio. Signed with Xavier.

        Coach of the Year — Bill Brewer, Roger Bacon, 12th year, 156-144, Vital statistics: Bounced back from first losing season in four years to lead Cavaliers to sectional and district titles.

        Division III Player of the Year — Branden Fisher, Mariemont, 6-3 F, Vital statistics: Senior averaged 21.5 points and led Mariemont to sectional title. Named second-team all-Ohio. ,

        Coach of the Year — David Wainscott, Mariemont, 3rd year, 26-41,

        Vital statistics: His teams showed improvement every year, going from 2-19 two seasons ago to 6-17 last season to 18-5 and a sectional championship.

        Division IV Player of the Year — Noah Allen, Cincinnati Country Day, 6-5 G, Vital statistics: Averaged 17.7 points and helped lead CCD to a 22-2 record and sectional championship. Named third-team all-district.

        Coach of the Year — Howard Brownstein, CCD, 16th year, 284-86, Vital statistics: Directed school to a share of seventh MVC title and first since 1994. 19-1 regular season tied 1992 state runner-up team for best mark in school history.

        Division II-III-IV First Team

        • Josh Hausfeld, Roger Bacon, 6-2 G, Vital statistics: Junior averaged 14.7 points and helped lead Bacon to successful tournament run. Playing on badly sprained ankle, still scored 15 points in regional championship loss to Alter. Named second-team all-Ohio.

        • Bret Underwood, Madeira, 6-4 F-C, Vital statistics: Senior averaged 16.2 points. Named third-team all-Ohio.

        • Ian Lafferty, Clermont Northeastern, 6-2 G, Vital statistics: Junior increased scoring from 13.4 to 16.2 points and was named honorable mention all-Ohio.

        • Frank Phillips, Roger Bacon, Junior, 6-4 G, Vital statistics: Averaged 13.7 points for regional runner-up. Named third-team all-district.

        • Paul Sheehy, McNicholas, 6-2 G-F, Vital statistics: Averaged 13.3 points for 13-9 team. Named third-team all-district.

        • Roger Drake, Goshen, 6-3 F-G, Vital statistics: Senior averaged 18.8 points, 9.1 rebounds for Rams. Named third-team all-district.

        • Matt Faris, Batavia, 6-2 F, Vital statistics: Senior increased scoring average from 10 to 15.8 points and was named third-team all-district.
