Dusing top NCAA swimmer
By Neil Schmidt
The Cincinnati Enquirer
Texas senior Nate Dusing, a Covington Catholic High grad, earned NCAA Swimmer of the Year after leading the Longhorns to their second consecutive national championship.
Dusing won six titles in the meet, including individual honors in the 200-yard backstroke and 200 individual medley. He also helped UT to relay titles in the 200 and 400 medley and 400 and 800 freestyle.
His time of 1:42.85 in the 200 IM was an NCAA and American short-course record, and all four winning relays swam NCAA record times. Dusing also finished second in the 100 butterfly to teammate Ian Crocker.
Dusing finished his college career as a 27-time All-American.
He won an Olympic gold medal as part of a U.S. relay team in Sydney last year.
