Get to it
A guide to help make your day
Going out
Chamber Players: The individual talents of Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra members we're talking a plenty big dose here go into the spotlight when the CSO Chamber Players uncork an evening of ensemble sounds from the chamber repertoire. 7:30 p.m. today, Memorial Hall, 1229 Elm St., Over-the-Rhine. $15-$20. 381-3300.
J Mascis: The former frontman of underground rockers Dinosaur Jr. pokes his head above ground with a new act name of J Mascis and the Fog. And if that's not bargain enough, you also get Cleveland's oh so edgy Cobra Verde opening the show. 8:30 p.m. today, Bogart's, 2621 Vine St., Corryville. $12-$14. 562-4949.
Theater: Firebird Theatre goes for belly laughs, and probably gets them, with a fresh shot at Neil Simon's semi-autobiographical Biloxi Blues. You know, the one set in 1943 at a steamy army base in Mississippi. 8 p.m. today, Western Row Golf Course Club House, 7392 Mason-Montgomery Road, Mason. Through March 31. $8. 336-0372.
Science fiction: So how about a little something from outer space? Like say Millenicon, the area's premiere science fiction convention, complete with discussion panels, fan-created costumes, author signings, games and maybe a Vulcan death grip or two. Today-Sunday,Kings Island Conference Center, Mason. $20 for one-day admission, package discounts. (513) 674-1059.
Staying In
TV picks: Give this show credit for occasionally trying something different. Here's a rerun of the episode in which it did a musical version of Jack and the Beanstalk. The Hughleys, 8:30 p.m., Channel 25.
Boy songs: This show offers the everyday adventures of a 13-year-old, sometimes illustrated by animated versions of her good and bad instincts. Tonight, there's more: Aaron Carter, the 13-year-old pop star, is in town to shoot a video and Lizzie is determined to find him. Carter sings I Want Candy. Lizzie McGuire, 6 p.m., Disney Channel.
Web site of the day
He's here: Today is launch day for the Spider-Man Web site. Www.spiderman.com has all kinds of info, including weekly production updates on the comic-book-turned-movie, starring Tobey Maguire and due in theaters May 2002.
