HOW THEY GOT HERE: Roger Baconbeat Bethel-Tate 93-50; beat New Richmond 86-48; beat Goshen 78-48; beat Trotwood-Madison 77-64. Mifflinbeat Bexley 61-58; beat Columbus Eastmoor 71-58; beat Licking Valley 72-60.
NOTABLE: With five underclassmen starting, Roger Bacon may be a year ahead of schedule for a trip to Columbus especially since guard Josh Hausfeld, the Spartans' second-leading scorer, will miss the game after suffering a sprained ankle during the district tournament.
The Spartans showed signs of maturity midway through the season, beating Division I St. Xavier and taking Kettering Alter to the wire twice. But playing at that level without Hausfeld might be difficult.
Mifflin's tournament run was unexpected. After starting the season 4-10, the Punchers came on strong, upsetting Columbus Bexley, Eastmoor Academy and Licking Valley in the sectional and district tournaments. Mifflin has won six of its last seven, losing only to AP Division I poll champion Columbus Brookhaven by two points. Junior Lucius Sullivan (16 ppg) is the leading scorer.
Mifflin's bench is thin, so it uses Da variety of zone defenses during the first half, then switches to man-to-man if it can afford to give fouls.
