Campbell County Sweet Sixteen preview

        • Records: Campbell County 22-7, South Laurel 26-6.

        • When: 7 p.m. today.

        • Where: Rupp Arena, Lexington.

        • Probable lineups: Campbell County—F Kevin Reinhardt, 6-4 Jr. (19.5 points, 7.9 rebounds); F Chris Clines, 6-1 Sr. (5.0 points, 2.4 rebounds) G Jordan Futscher, 5-10 Sr. (10.4 points); G Danny Miller, 5-8 Sr. (4.7 points, 3.3 assists); G Steve Sigmon, 5-11 Sr. (12.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists). South Laurel—F Nathan Valentine, 6-3 Sr. (19.9 points, 7.5 rebounds); F Jon Dean, 6-0 Jr. (4.6 points); C Travis Hensley, 6-6 Sr. (5.7 points, 5.6 rebounds); G Brad Sizemore, 6-0 Sr. (14.0 points); G Richie Riley, 6-1 Sr. (16.9 points, 7.3 assists).

        • Notable: Both Campbell County and South Laurel are inexperienced when it comes to the state tournament. The Camels have been there twice, but not since 1960. South Laurel is making its first trip since the county high school split into two campuses.

South Laurel coach Steve Wright and Campbell County's Dan Sullivan have a connection: Sullivan replaced Wright, a Boone County alumnus, as boys coach at Walton-Verona in 1990.

The teams play similar styles. “I don't see much of a difference,” Sullivan said. “They play a little more zone; we play a little more man-to-man.”

        • Quotable: “I don't think we're satisfied. Our kids are like South Laurel's — their kids feel they can win, our kids feel we can win.” - Campbell County coach Dan Sullivan.

“Any team that goes into Mason County and beats them is a good team. They get a lot of their points on the outside, but they also throw the ball to Reinhardt on the block. We've got to watch for that.” - South Laurel coach Steve Wright.
