East Central wins Indiana sectional opener




        Bill Theising was one of three East Central players in doubles figures as the Trojans won defeated Connersville 61-42 in the opening game of the Division Class 4A Section sectional 10 tournament in New Castle.

        A 10-0 run midway the first quarter enabled East Central to take a commanding 20-6 lead that the Trojans extended to 33-16 at halftime.

        Besides scoring 20 points, Theising blocked four shots and grabbed eight rebounds.

        East Central plays Muncie Central Friday in the semifinals (6 p.m.). with Richmond meeting Jay County at 7:30 p.m.

        CONNERSVILLE (42) — Hall 8 1 19, Northern 2 0 4, Gesel 2 1 5, Dillon 3 4 10, Morehead 1 0 2. Totals: 17 6 42.

        EAST CENTRAL (61) — Engel 0 1 1, Gesell 6 2 14, Gray 1 0 3, Focke 1 0 2, Theising 8 4 20, Dever 4 5 13, Noschang 3 0 8. Totals: 23 12 61.

        East Central ....... 20  13  17  11—61
