NKU men, women get NCAA bids
The Northern Kentucky University men's and women's teams each received bids to the NCAA Division II basketball tournament Sunday.
The women (25-4) are the defending national champions and will be making their third straight NCAA appearance. The third seed, NKU will play Gannon (Pa.) (22-7) at 5:30 p.m. Friday in the Great Lakes Regional at Houghton, Mich.
Should the Norse win, they would face No.2 seed Southern Indiana (26-3), which beat NKU 95-73 in the GLVC tourney semifinals Saturday.
The NKU men (25-6) are making their sixth NCAA tournament appearance in the past seven seasons. The men, also a third seed, will face Grand Valley State (21-8) at 9:15 p.m. Thursday at Owensboro, Ky.
Second-seeded Southern Indiana (26-3) would be Friday's semifinal opponent while top-seed Kentucky Wesleyan (26-3), which eliminated NKU in the GLVC tourney, would loom in the final.
