Highlands 63, Newport Central Catholic 53




        Tara Boothe did it all for the Bluebirds en route to the 36th District championship at Bellevue. She scored a game-high 24 points, grabbed 17 rebounds, had four assists and three steals and was named tournament MVP.

        Highlands shot 60 percent from the field for the game, while Newport Central Catholic made on 27 percent of its shots.

        The Thoroughbreds were led by Maria and Nicole Chiodi, who each scored 16 points.

        Katie Winkler scored 13 points and Katie Konen added 12 points for Highlands.
