BATAVIA A former New Richmond High School teacher pleaded not guilty on Friday to three counts of sexual battery in connection with an alleged relationship he had been having with a senior at the school.
Gary Young, 37, remains in the Clermont County Jail after his bond was reduced from $500,000 to $100,000 during an arraignment in Common Pleas Court. He was ordered to have no contact with the girl.

Earlier this week the Clermont County grand jury handed down the indictment against Mr. Young, who was arrested at his Union Township home Feb. 23, three days after resigning his teaching position.
School officials had been investigating Mr. Young after rumors about the relationship began. After his resignation, they received letters he supposedly had written to colleagues describing his relationship with the student, who was 17 at the time.
Mr. Young had been a language arts teacher in the high school since 1990.
Superintendent Loren Wilson said the content of the letters suggested that sexual contact had occurred between Mr. Young and the student. Mr. Young denied rumors that he was involved with the teen-ager.
Mr. Wilson said the student, who is not being named, has not been in school since mid-February, when the investigation into the relationship began.
Mr. Young is represented by attorney Kenneth Lawson, who declined to comment about the case.
