Dixie wins close one

        Sarah Wright made both ends of a one-and-one with 3.9 seconds to play to seal Dixie Heights' 45-42 win over Villa Madonna in a 34th District game at Villa Madonna.

        Dixie Heights took the lead with 12 seconds to play on a free throw by Cassie Shondel after Villa Madonna had tied it up on a 3-pointer by Alex Randall.

        Dixie Heights next plays the winner of today's Scott-Calvary Christian game in the district final at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Villa Madonna. Both district finalists will advance to the regional tournament.

        • Highlands 62, Dayton 17, 36th District at Bellevue — Tara Boothe scored all eight of her points in the first quarter as No.5 Highlands took a 19-2 lead.

        The Bluebirds, will play the winner of today's Newport Central Catholic-Newport game in the district final at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Bellevue. Both district finalist will advance to the regional tournament.
