NASCAR Thunder stores closing
TNN, a cable channel owned by Viacom Inc., said it will close all 11 of its NASCAR Thunder stores including one at Kenwood Towne Centre to leave the retail business.
The stores, which sell auto-racing collectibles, apparel and memorabilia, will be shut in 30-45 days, and about 60 people will lose their jobs, spokeswoman Cheryl Daly said. TNN said branded-entertainment retailing is a depressed marketplace.
In addition to Kenwood, the stores are in Atlanta; Dallas; Phoenix; Charleston, W.Va.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Mobile, Ala.; Richmond and Roanoke, Va.; and Winston-Salem, N.C.
